Classical-Electronica & a Beethoven Classic With the SF Symphony

Experience the best in symphonic music -- from little-heard pieces by Beethoven to a forward-looking electronica masterwork by composer Mason Bates -- at this Beethoven and Bates Festival performance. An incredible lineup of soloists joins the San Francisco Symphony Chorus for the glorious Mass in C, the oft-overlooked elder sibling of Beethoven's later colossus, the Missa solemnis. Guggenheim Fellow Mason Bates complements this underrated masterpiece with his tone poem Liquid Interface, an inventive four-movement evocation of water scored for large orchestra and electronica. Rarely heard selections from Beethoven's King Stephen will open the program. Come early for an informative pre-show talk with Peter Grunberg.
