Fun Home -- winner of five 2015 Tony Awards, including Best Musical -- reopens the historic Curran, after a massive two-year renovation and restoration. Fun Home, based on Alison Bechdel's best-selling graphic memoir, has been praised as "something of a miracle" (New York magazine). The Tony-winning best musical tells the story of Alison at three different ages, alongside her uniquely dysfunctional family -- her mother, brothers and brilliant, volatile father. Intimate, emotional and refreshingly honest, Fun Home captures the experience of seeing your parents through grown-up eyes. See the show the SF Chronicle calls "refreshing and ... a trend-setting success for a mainstream musical. ... So lovely and complex is every song, every stage picture ... at the newly and gorgeously renovated Curran."

The Curran has housed some of the most important productions in history and has maintained a reputation over the course of its life as one of the greatest venues in North America. Now, nearly 100 years after it welcomed its first Bay Area audiences, the Curran has just completed the most extensive and celebratory renovation and restoration the Curran has had since it was built in 1922. Under the curation of eight-time Tony Award winner Carole Shorenstein Hays, the Curran is reopening as a 1,600-seat venue with a new mission: to act as a home for the most exciting stage works being conceived and created anywhere in the world, where audiences and artists are part of the same community.
