HEDWIG and the ANGRY INCH with DARREN CRISS at Golden Gate Theatre

Darren Criss will launch the highly anticipated National Tour of HEDWIG AND THE ANGRY INCH, the 2014 Tony Award®-winning Best Musical Revival, reprising his critically-acclaimed performance at the SHN Golden Gate Theatre in San Francisco, October 2–30, 2016. Criss previously played Hedwig on Broadway for 12 weeks last year.

As a native of the Bay Area, Criss is thrilled to open the tour in front of hometown audiences. He explained, “When I found out that the tour would be kicking off in my hometown of San Francisco – the city where I was introduced to HEDWIG AND THE ANGRY INCH – I could think of no better excuse to get back into the heels of a character I loved and missed so very much.”

Lena Hall will reprise her Tony Award®-winning performance as Yitzhak in the same production. In a groundbreaking twist, Hall will also play the role of Hedwig for one performance a week in San Francisco. It is a rare occasion for a Tony Award winner to go on national tour, and historic for the same person to play both Hedwig and Yitzhak.

Hall, thrilled at the opportunity to explore and express this double role, explains, I’m thrilled to be returning to HEDWIG AND THE ANGRY INCH performing not one, but two iconic roles in my hometown of San Francisco. Not only will I get to share the stage with my fellow San Francisco native and friend Darren Criss; but I will also get a chance to begin my own journey as the glam rock heroine Hedwig. To tell her story in my hometown is the greatest homecoming I can think of, and I am looking forward to sharing this journey with my friends, family, and Hedheads.

Criss will appear as Hedwig in all performances, except Sunday, October 9 at 7pm and Wednesday evenings, October 12, 19 and 26 at 8pm. Hall will appear as Hedwig in the following performances: Sunday, October 9 at 7pm, Wednesday, October 12 at 8pm, Wednesday, October 19 at 8pm, and Wednesday, October 26 at 8pm.

The members of Hedwig’s band “The Angry Inch” — aka “Tits of Clay” — will be music director Justin Craig (guitar and keyboards), Matt Duncan (bass), Tim Mislock (guitar), and Peter Yanowitz (drums), all of whom originated their roles on Broadway.

Brilliantly innovative, heartbreaking, and wickedly funny, HEDWIG AND THE ANGRY INCH is the landmark American musical by John Cameron Mitchell and Stephen Trask that is “groundbreaking and undoubtedly ahead of its time” (Entertainment Weekly). This genre-bending, fourth-wall-smashing musical sensation, with a pulsing score and electrifying performances, tells the story of one of the most unique characters to ever hit the stage.

Directed by Tony Award® winner Michael Mayer (Spring Awakening) and winner of four 2014 Tony Awards® including Best Musical Revival, HEDWIG AND THE ANGRY INCH played to record-breaking sell-out crowds on Broadway and promises to take San Francisco by storm with what Time Magazine proclaims is “the most exciting rock score written for the theatre since, oh, ever!”

Tony-Winning Musical Comedy La Cage Aux Folles

A boisterous and vibrant portrait of love in a nontraditional family, La Cage Aux Folles has been one of Broadway's biggest hits for more than 30 years, earning nine Tony Awards, including Best Musical and Best Revival. Problems arise when Georges' 25-year-old son comes home with his fiancée and her conservative parents. Watch as the flamboyant couple's family dynamic gets hilariously turned upside down. Written by Harvey Fierstein, the musical features Jerry Herman's beloved score -- including "The Best of Times Is Now" and "I Am What I Am." Get in on the wig-flying fun as La Cage Aux Folles closes out the Bay Area Musicals season at San Francisco's Victoria Theatre.

Cabaret

Leave your troubles outside - life is beautiful at the CABARET !

Direct from Broadway, the acclaimed masterpiece returns to San Francisco! As part of their 50th Anniversary Season, the critically acclaimed and award winning Roundabout Theatre Company is proud to present SAM MENDES (Skyfall, American Beauty) and ROB MARSHALL's (the film adaptations of Into the Woods and Chicago) Tony Award-winning production of CABARET.

Welcome to the infamous Kit Kat Klub, where the Emcee, Sally Bowles and a raucous ensemble take the stage nightly to tantalize the crowd --- and to leave their troubles outside. But as life in pre-WWII Germany grows more and more uncertain, will the decadent allure of Berlin nightlife be enough to get them through their dangerous times?

Come hear some of the most memorable songs in theatre history, including "Cabaret," Willkommen" and "Maybe This Time." Leave your troubles outside --- life is beautiful at the CABARET, JOHN KANDER, FRED EBB, and JOE MASTEROFF's Tony-winning musical about following your heart while the world loses its way.
